Attention Geese

The geese are on Guard duty. Last morning i saw few feathers outside my apartment. I thought this was the result of their own gang fighting.

Again, this evening while on walk i saw few feathers and blood.

And i have been seeing cats lately. So put two and two together. Geese have enemies...

An Evening In Paris

& They Lived Happy There After

NEW ROLE: K.J. Alphons Kannanthanam

The last post i wrote is indeed a telepathic one. India's Bravest Man has started his journey to the office of PM. This journey will be a great time for India. Being Indian nationals it is our duty to support him in every possible way. No matter what the obstacle Alphons has proved - they can be overcome.
Let us be with him - support it in all possible ways...
Land Revenue Commissioner K. J. Alphons Kannanthanam resigned from the Indian Administrative Service on Thursday to contest for a seat in the Assembly.

He has been sounded for contest from the Kanjirappally constituency as a Left Democratic Front candidate.
Mr. Kannanthanam, who belongs to the 1979 batch of IAS offices in the Kerala cadre, submitted his resignation to Chief Secretary in the morning after informing Chief Minister of his decision.

``I am a people's man who worked for the benefit of the citizen. The citizen is most important for me. ``Everything in my official life revolved around the citizen. In future also, it will continue to revolve round the citizen,'' he said in reference to his decision to enter politics.

Alphons has achieved a great sucess by bold positions he had taken on various issues.

Mr. Kannanthanam Alphons was also behind several campaigns for public causes.

  • He was in the Time magazine's list of 100 young global leaders for the new Millennium in 1994.
  • Kottayam district achieved a quality health index better than that of the U.S. when he was Collector there. During his tenure, Kottayam become the first 100 per cent literate town in the country.
  • He led the demolition of 14,310 unauthorised buildings in New Delhi as the Commissioner of the Delhi Development Authority.
  • He started a non-governmental organisation, Janashakti, to crusade against corruption at all levels. Janashakthi has been running a project from 1994 in Nanglamachi, one of the biggest slums in Delhi.
  • His autobiography, `Making a Difference,' is a best seller.
If you are searching for times as revolutionary as Mahatama Gandhi days...
Your wait ends here and duty begins.. ALL THE BEST

2 pilots die as MiG crashes in RajasthanNew Delhi, March 21In yet another MiG crash, a trainer version of Mig-21 fighter aircraft crashed soon after getting airborne from Uttarlai airbase in Rajasthan with two pilots on board.

Hundreds of people from Babarpur village in Nabha subdivision of Patiala, India today held a demonstration here in front of the office of the Director, Health Services, Punjab, urging him to send medical teams for the treatment of people suffering from hepatitis and certain other diseases such as cancer and arthritis.

Their are Certain places where health care needs to be provided - as if the pendamic has broken out..and for that first thing we need to weed out corruption.

People are demonstrating outside the Health Authority Office, but who put this system in place...India needs to vote out....its problems. Otherwise the problems are going to become huge...and incidents like this will become reoccuring...

The toy, called Magnetix, is used to construct various shapes by joining magnric parts. It was approved by federal safety commision. Commion failed to find out that the toy was faulty and the magnet separtes out from the main part. The commission should have analysed in detail and, atleast would have recalled the toy, children cant be given life threatning toys.
The boy swallowed two magnets that pinched his small instentine and released bacteria in blood, some other chidren were saved after surgery.

Gurgaon Pollution

I went to 'gurgaon' in december. The connectivity with delhi is very poor.

You need to wait in hell 'ouside ISBT ND' for 30 mins to 1 Hr. and then you wont find a seat in bus and go standing for over an hour. There is a beautiful view of NDelhi airport. And labourers are smoking cheap tobacoo bidis in bus.

I fell sick, my lungs blocked, for a week after i came from Gurgaon. it was so polluted even in December.

Gurgaon’s air highest on nitrogen oxide levelsMaruti, DLF issued notices for emitting pollutantsAditi TandonTribune News Service

Chandigarh, March 19 Almost all major developers and commercial giants in Gurgaon are in the dock for contributing to the fast rising nitrogen oxide levels in its air. In a recent crackdown on industrial and commercial set-ups using massive generator sets to meet power demands, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has found the level of nitrogen oxides in Gurgaon’s air to be three times the national average.
This makes Gurgaon the most polluted Indian city in terms of nitrogen oxide content in the air. In extreme conditions, NO2 (nitrogen oxide) can lead to cancer of the lungs. It also works as a secondary pollutant and teams up with other pollutants to form ozone.

Surya Kiran Crash

Is improving the attitude a necessary pre requsite to improve Technomanagment

While in Hyderabad at times of Afro-Asian games i enjoyed the aerobatics of Surya Kiran Team. They use to happen around evening refreshment time at Microsoft.

""Two pilots of the Indian Air Force’s Surya Kiran aerobatics team were killed today following an accident during a routine training sortie when their plane crashed on the outskirts of Bidar in North Karnataka. The Surya Kiran aerobatics team is based at the Bidar Air Force Station and comprises indigenously manufactured Kiran Mk II aircraft""

The accident occurred when the tail of one plane hit another during an aerobatics drill. One plane was damaged due to this and crashed at Naubad village on the outskirts of Bidar.

Surya Kiran is rated as one of the best aerobatics formation teams in the world along with the “Red Arrows” of the British Royal Air Force and Canada’s “Snow Birds”.

The Surya Kiran aerobatics team is the successor of the Thuderbolt team of the IAF, which was formed in 1982 as a fulltime public display team. The team comprises 13 pilots with only nine pilots flying at any given time. The team has given aerobatics displays both in India and abroad, with the team giving its last major display at the Singapore air show in February.

Sach Kee Baani Nanak Aakhe

Sach Sunae see sach kee Bela,

POLARIZED PICTURE. New measurements of the polarization (white lines) of the radiation left over from the Big Bang,
combined with a map of hot and cold spots in the background.
The new data confirms with unprecedented accuracy the

ingredients of the universe:
4.4 percent ordinary matter, or atoms,
22 percent invisible material ( dark matter )
74 percent a mysterious entity ( dark energy )

The satellite also pegs the age of the universe at 13.7 billion years.
Previous results from the satellite focused on the variations in the temperature of the
microwave-background radiation, which has cooled over billions of years to a frigid 2.72 kelvins. Tiny variations in that temperature, less than a millionth of a kelvin hotter or colder, revealed details of the primordial density fluctuations that gave rise to stars and galaxies (SN: 2/15/03, p. 99: The new results focus on the polarization of the microwave-background radiation, the tendency of the radiation's waves to vibrate in a specific direction.

The polarization signal reveals that the first stars formed 300 to 400 million years after the Big Bang.
That's slightly later than estimates that were based on earlier data from the same satellite, notes cosmologist Michael Turner of the University of Chicago.

Accounting for the polarization was like "removing a fog," says Spergel. It enabled the team to scrutinize more closely than ever before the primordial fluctuations imprinted on the microwave background.

According to the simplest model of inflation, the universe didn't balloon at a constant rate during the early growth spurt.

As a consequence, variations in density of matter in the universe ought to be slightly
larger on the largest scales—10 billion light-years—than on smaller scales—roughly 100 million
light-years. The satellite has now found exactly that pattern, the team reports.
"This is not simply another test of inflation but something that examines the universe during its first trillionth of a trillionth of a second," says Turner. "The entire cosmology community has been waiting for this, excited and worried." The findings "are beginning to shed light on the mechanism [that drove] inflation," he adds.

Lightning and Strong Winds

Last night - strong lightming. The houses are like made of wood here. When the clouds roared the the floor looked as if it was shaking. Today - Strong winds... appears you will get flight.. some chill has returned...but weather is fun!

Saturday, March 11, 2006

Today i went outside chicago, to sub urbs and air quality was much better. fun to breathe!suddenly it started lightning and rained. in chicago though it looks pretty clean - but you feel that not enough oxygen is getting to lungs.

I learnt that in America ehen you throw away a car tyre, you should keep the iron rim with you. The benefit of tubeless tyres - atleast here, is that air does not need to be checked very often.
Here all the roads have an area to the edge where no body is allowed. But in case of trouble you can switch on the HAZARD LIGHT and take it to that area called SHOULDER.
Driving is even more smoother as most cars are gearless.
Average temperature is 40F, like 10C, and it feels comfortable.

Back in Punjab...its cricket time. The most useless game in the world!

Turin Winter Olympics

The Germans won, with a population just 30% that of the US, 29 medals
compared to 25 for the US, while Austria with a population of less than 10
million won 22 medals.

But isn't it more about fun!! and who enjoyed the game most!!

Tuesday, March 07, 2006

This morning it was white and misty with beautiful fog.
There is a scattered system over chicago that is resulting in Occasional showers mixed with sleet. Tomorrow night heavy rain is possible. But it is not going o get that cold as it was two weeks back.

The waves are forming as the snow is melting atleast few times a day. Ducks and geese are beginning to enjoy swimming.

Beware of Coyotes

A white Sunday in Chicago. Total snow accumulation 1 to 3 inches. Lows in the mid 20s. Light and variable winds.

Just went outside my Campus Drive office, at 7:30 PM. was getting dark as days are getting longer. This is like 300 metre from Kohl's Store. I spotted two wild coyotes. One walking behind other like 25 feet. I have been seeing some rabbits for past few days.

Once must think before taking a walk. I tried to take a picture but they passed from sort of a small valley in front of me.

Coyotes are members of the canid family, which includes wolves, dogs and foxes. Adults coyotes weigh an average of 30 to 50 pounds, and are four to five feet long from nose to end of tail. They are carnivores, whose diet consists of rabbits, deer fawns, birds and various invertebrates. They also scavenge and can bring down larger prey in packs. They raise pups in dens, but seldom dig their own. They possess exceptional senses of smell, sight and hearing, and can produce a distinct howl.
Nuisance Concerns: Coyotes prefer solidation, but become a big nuisance when it comes to certain livestock. Occasionally, an individual coyote learns that chickens, sheep, lambs and calves are easy prey. For more on Chicago Wild animals...
